A bit of History
The George/Greene Baptist Association of churches is a fellowship of Southern Baptist churches that have organized to facilitate mutual encouragement and cooperation in fulfilling the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.
The George-Greene Area Missions Program was begun February 1, 1974 with Rev. Horace Glass as Director of Missions. On November 1, 1991 Rev. John W. Henry became the second Director of Missions, followed by Rev. Jimmy Holcomb on October 23, 2006. There are presently 33 Southern Baptist Churches, 20 in Greene County and 13 in George. In October 2008, the George and Greene associations unanimously voted to merge into one association.
HIGHLIGHTS of the program – Annual construction trips (29 to date); Prison Ministry; Annual Baptist Men’s Banquet; Bible Drills; monthly mailout; Baptist Food Bank; VBS clinics; Seminary Extension classes; Mission trips. In 2008, participated in 8 mission trips.
